Studio Handbook

POLICIES

PICTURES & VIDEOS:

The Studio will on occasion take photos and videos for use within The Studio including an annual scrapbook of all of our classes and students. At times, these photos may be posted on our website, our Facebook page, or used in promotional material for The Studio. Students’ names will not be used with the photos.

COMMUNICATION:

All communication will be through email.  Please ensure that we have your current email address on file. Your email address will only be used to communicate important information regarding The Studio and is not shared with any outside parties.

INCLEMENT WEATHER:

In the case of inclement weather

  • we may or may not hold class if King George County Schools are cancelled or close early.

  • Visit our facebook page, and check your email for any closing updates.  Though we follow the county’s school schedule closely, it will be the Studio owner’s decision whether or not to close.

  • we WILL have class if King George County Schools run on a delayed schedule.  Morning classes will not be held if King George schools are on a delayed schedule.

  • Should class be canceled because of inclement weather, students may make up the class within 2 weeks of the missed class by taking their level or lower.

SHORTENED CLASSES:

If class attendance drops below 3 students due to absenteeism, a shortened class may be taught. This is not considered a penalty, but with only one or two people the class is considered a private or semi-private lesson, with the one on one instruction at a group price.

CLASS PLACEMENT/EVALUATIONS:

We care about our students and their safety and growth, which is why placement of students is at the discretion of The Studio faculty. Placing a dance student in a class before he/she is ready can cause permanent injury. We strive for a safe and nurturing learning environment. All dance classes have a suggested age, but placement is based on skill level and is determined by the Studio owner.  Evaluations are required for any student wishing to move into a higher dance level.

CLASS TIMES:

Class times may be revised if enrollment necessitates.

OPEN ENROLLMENT:

With our open enrollment policy, we welcome new students throughout the year. Regarding dance students, if you join us after the month of November, due to circumstances outside of our control, your child may not be able to participate in the Spring Production nor may they join B, C or D level dance classes without instructor approval.
