Mrs. Emily Karlewicz is the Owner of The Studio, and teaches Dance, Music Theatre, Acting, and Voice. Emily began dancing at the age of 6, and was trained by Victoria Shiflet Kress, founder of The King George Ballet Co. and School. In High School, after deciding to pursue a life in the Theatre, she performed at The Riverside Dinner Theatre for 2 Seasons. She graduated from college in 2008 from Shenandoah Conservatory, with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Some of her favorite roles include: Alice in Millie, Constance in Lovers and Executioners, Saradipity in Cats, and Graziella in West Side Story. For three years after college, Emily traveled as a tour actor/director with the world-renowned Missoula Children’s Theatre, before moving back home with her husband Evan. Emily is so grateful to all the teachers who inspired her, and encouraged her to dream. She hopes to follow in their footsteps, and spread her love of the arts to all the families of King George, her hometown.
Mrs. Amy Kohl is a Dance Instructor at The Studio. She has enjoyed 15 years of training in competitive gymnastics, and modern dance and has coached a variety of levels and ages of gymnastics for 20 years. She graduated from Longwood College with a B.A. in English Education, a minor in Dance Education and a teaching certificate. When she first became a mommy, she stopped teaching to create Majik Motions, a children’s gymnastics program in Spotsylvania. She has now turned her sights on the King George community. Amy is excited to be able to share her love of acrobatics and kids with The Studio. She hopes to provide a safe, fun environment to allow children to build character and strength while learning the challenges and rewards of physical effort and dedication to goals.
Miss Hope Janowsky is a Dance Instructor at The Studio. She has been dancing since she was very young. Throughout her dance career she has performed in many performances including, but not limited too The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, The Gift of the Magi, Giselle and many others. She has been to many different dance intensives and attended classes by many well known and credited choreographers from around the world and dancers from SYTYCD. She has performed in many competitions including the styles tap, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, pointe, and open categories. She has been in competitive group numbers and solos and has choreographed some solos of her own. Dance is her passion and she plans to not only continue her own dance career but help others find their passion in dance as well.
Miss Cadence Shriver is a former student of The Studio and now a dance instructor at The Studio. Over the last 12 years she has trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Pointe, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Acting and Voice. As a competition dancer, she has won multiple awards for performance and technique and understands the important qualities of hard work and dedication. As a new teacher, she continues her education under the mentorship of The Studio teachers and is working on certifications with Acrobatic Arts, CLI Studios and Dance Teacher Life.
Mrs. Sacha Trulove has been dancing from the age of 5 years old. She has been instructing dance for over 20 years, in numerous styles including Tap, Ballet, and Modern. Her formal dance education was acquired through Ballet Australian Limited (BAL) examination in Australia, with her specialty in Tap – earning her teachers level. She has taught at many dance studios both here in the USA and in Australia, including choreography for numerous recitals and competitions. Sacha is also formally trained in voice and has performed in a local production of the Sound of Music in Australia during her youth. She has taught ages from 2yrs old to adult and has a passion for sharing the love of dance and music in a fun and professional manner..
Mrs. Nikki Eaddy is an acting instructor at The Studio. She has participated in the performing arts since the age of eight. Throughout the years, she held numerous roles in musicals, comedies, and dramas in community theaters. She also served as director, stage manager, and musical director. She spent several years working with the children’s summer theater program at the community theater in her hometown of Florence, South Carolina before moving to King George. She is a classically trained vocalist and alumna of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts summer intensive program. She graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors from Converse College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In addition to teaching at The Studio, Nikki is a tutor with Sylvan Learning Center and a teacher in her homeschool co-op. She is so excited for the opportunity to share her love of theater with the children of the King George community and hopes to instill her love of the arts to her students.
Miss Lilly Kohl is a former student of The Studio and a guest instructor. Over the last ten years she has trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Pointe, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Acting and Voice. She is currently in college studying for a degree in Business Marketing and Political Science.
Miss Morgan McMahan is a former student of The Studio and now a dance instructor at The Studio. She has trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Pointe, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, and Musical Theatre. As a new teacher, she continues her education under the mentorship of The Studio teachers and is working on certifications with Acrobatic Arts, CLI Studios and Dance Teacher Life.
